What a deal! Empty your closets! Turn in outgrown soccer cleats for others to use. Also, bring in washed shinguards or outgrown soccer balls for the younger kids. Ayso 64 will collect old equipment at any of the walk-in registration days. If you have kindergartners or kids new to soccer, don’t buy new cleats which will soon be outgrown. Check out the Ayso collection first! Player Equipment In it's simplest form the game requires only two players and a ball. The organized game requires quite a bit more, like Referees, safety equipment, and uniforms to help identify the teams (for all of us proud parents.) Here is a list of what we will provide, what you need to get, how to select it, and where you can find it. We have included just a small sample of what is available, the smart shopper will find and evaluate many more and probably find some great prices too! Then there is that cool stuff your kids will ask you for - tell them use our Links we like to research it on the web first! The Region will provide your player with a Jersey, Shorts and long socks. These must be worn during all games the team plays. The rest is up to the family to provide (but some experienced equipment has been provided by older players for those who need it, contact the hotline.) You will also need: A Ball Cleats are optional A Water bottle! Players must wear their shinguards and appropriate shoes at all games and practices. The shoes do not need to be cleats, regular 'tennis' shoes are okay. If you intend to get cleats, make sure to check the guide below to get the right kind! Make sure it is the right size; U6-U8 play with a size 3, U10-U12 play with a size 4, U14 and older uses a size 5 ball. (Age groups are set by your age as of Aug 1.) Really good balls have a PU cover that gets the correct feel for high level match competition. These balls also use a different bladder (the rubber air holding part) that also feels better. Unfortunately these things that make a great match ball also raise the price significantly and cause the ball to not last as long. For general use, practices, playing in rain a PVC cover and a butyl bladder will allow the ball manufacturer to warranty the ball. And unless you are on an Olympic development team, you probably won't notice any different 'feel'.
