AYSO's Safe Haven certification is required for all volunteers, especially coaches, referees, team managers, and board members. Why all volunteers? Because that way all of us know the correct protocols and we can back each other up or know when something is not quite right and thus protect our children.
Safe Haven will protect both you and our children. AYSO's Safe Haven program was an early leader in this area and now many if not most programs that use adult volunteers to help kids have similar training in place, including churches and other sports organizations.
It is best to take Safe Haven online (at http://aysotraining.org) although we occasionally offer in person training (see our training calendar). Online is faster and can be done anytime day or night. In person allows you to meet fellow volunteers and ask questions. Safe Haven is now the same for all volunteers. It is highly recommended that everyone who took the old one now takes the new one that was put in place in 2011. To take it online, you must get your AYSO ID # from http://eayso.org. Even if you take the course in person, you must be registered in eAYSO to take Safe Haven online and to ensure your training is recorded and tracked and so it is not lost.
