Division Coordinators and other Region Roles

Division Coordinator

One Division Coordinator (DC) is typically preferred per age group and gender (e.g. 8U Boys DC, 6U Girls DC, etc.) although it is possible for a DC to span both genders (e.g. same person being 8U Girls DC and 8U Boys DC).


Purpose of Role

Oversee operations within a division

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary contact for coaches and families in the division
  • Be the liason between the coaches/teams and the board
  • For 6U and older, form balanced teams. Since Playground does not have teams, form Playground pods.
  • For 6U through about 8U, establish game schedules for the season. For 10U and above, this is normally done by another role (area scheduler) as games are played against other local regions.
  • Attend monthly virtual board meetings

Skills & Qualities Needed

  • Organization and Communications skills
  • Fairness and impartiality needed when building teams
  • Conflict resolution (e.g. when players cannot be placed on a team of their choosing)

Training Requirements

  • Fingerprinting - at Go Day/Orientation or at specific local fingerprinting vendors
  • Risk Status (Background Check - online with renewal every 15 months)
  • Concussion Awareness (online training)
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest (online training)
  • AYSO Safe Haven (online training)
  • SafeSport (online training, ~90 minutes for first time, 30 minutes for renewal in 15 months)

Time Commitment

  • 3-6 hours/week starting about a month before a season through the end of the season
